20,000 Meters to Andriivka is a documentary directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Mstyslav Chernov. It tells the story of the liberation of the village of Andriivka in the Bakhmut direction during Ukraine’s counteroffensive. Soldiers of the 3rd Assault Brigade traverse treacherous, mined forests to liberate the settlement from Russian occupation.
The film was produced by Reni Aronson, Alex Babenko, Mstyslav Chernov, Michelle Mizner, and Lindsay Schneider, with cinematography by Chernov and Babenko, and a score by British composer Sam Slater. A U.S.-Ukraine co-production, the feature runs 106 minutes.
The Ukrainian premiere took place on August 28, 2025, with distribution by Arthouse Traffic. The film has earned numerous awards, including Best Directing at Sundance 2025, the F:ACT Award at CPH:DOX 2025, the DOCU/WORLD Grand Prize, and the Audience Award at Docudays UA 2025. It also represents Ukraine in the Best International Feature Film category at the 2026 Academy Awards.
